school

σχολή (scholē, “leisure, free time”)
A place for learning

School comes from scholē, 'leisure'. Greeks thought learning was the best use of free time.

The story

Scholē meant free time. For Greeks, the best use of leisure was discussion and learning, so the word moved from 'spare time' to 'lecture' to 'school'.

The Texas version

Ten minutes of Greek on your lunch break? That's scholē the old way.

Use it at work

Learning in short breaks is the original meaning of school: free time well used.

Practice it in Skepsis
