kairos

καιρός (kairos, “the right moment”)
The perfect moment to act

Kairos is the right moment, as opposed to chronos, clock time. Good timing persuades.

The story

Greeks had two words for time. Chronos is clock time, ticking along. Kairos is the right moment, the opening an archer waits for. Orators were trained to sense kairos.

The Texas version

Asking for a raise right after you closed the biggest deal of the quarter. Kairos.

Use it at work

Follow up with a lead the day you meet, not a week later. Timing is kairos.

Practice it in Skepsis
